Sorting and System MADNESS
In some form or other, we all want to have things organised in a certain way around us, which leads us into establishing systems.
However, your system for organisation does not necessarily mean that it works for anyone else, after all, it is your system, and only needs to make sense to you.
That being said, if anyone needs to take over, it needs to be clear enough how to use the system or you would need to leave instructions or at least some breadcrumbs behind.
Working in IT there are often convoluted and complex systems, which in many cases do not translate well into real life when you e.g need to prepare for your own end or in case of emergency.
This is where at least in IT Industry Standards come in to play, and its great that we have them... If people would use and follow them.
We live in a world where there are new software products bombarding us every day, and new ways of dealing with things.
The road is for sure paved with good intent, but this comes back to again; that the designer of the system designs it for them, not with anyone else in mind.
This can cause a lot of confusion and shortcuts... hacks.. workarounds to wrangle it to work for you and what you need it for.
What this in the end leads to if its not implemented correctly and in a timely fashion is.. Frustration, frustration on all fronts.
And now we have a half-assed implementation of a good intent with a dead-end goal and no end in sight.. Added to the pile of technological debt that will never get cashed in.
