In today’s age we are all dependant on certain things around us, an Internet connection has been in the western world been deemed a basic human right.. And is ranked higher than procreation in terms of needs…

With this kind of dependence comes the problem of remaining connected no matter what and the one thing that is not considered in all this is the costs for maintaining it.
We are at the mercy of our Service Providers engineering solutions that are secure and redundant, but there is no guarantee that they will work no matter what.
One must strive to remove all SPOF’s in our life, well… not all… Imagine have multiple partners etc, the horror.

Don’t fix problems you didn’t have to begin with..

The one thing that needs to change in all of this, is our mindset… Today, too many functions that we depend on are being treated as pets, while it should in fact be treated as cattle.

The end goal is to get to a place where if something breaks, no sweat, just rebuild with a command… Ansible and Docker to the rescue!
With these two tools in hand we can make our infrastructure ephemeral and not needing constant care and attention.

Down the line I will explore this more while I reduce my own anxiety and stress.
